"The changes occurring in Louisiana education almost overwhelmed the Sophomore English teachers at West Monroe High School. Unsure of how to implement new curriculum with virtually no new resources, we turned to the West Monroe High School Foundation. The Foundation purchased for each sophomore student the state recommended novel, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. Student response to the novel shocked all of us. Even our most reluctant readers devoured the book, and we could hardly plan lessons quickly enough to meet the students' demands for more. We deeply appreciate the Foundation for making this possible and impacting the lives of so many students at West Monroe High School."

I have had the honor of being a part of this Foundation since its formal beginning in 2009. However, the desire to start this organization began years before, by a group of business leaders and school administrators who shared a vision for forming an organization to provide financial support to WMHS. The vision of these founders and the hearts of those serving on the Board of Directors have already made a tremendous impact on the lives of students and teachers at West Monroe High School. I am so proud to be a part of this organization and hope that you might consider supporting the school by giving financially to the West Monroe High School Foundation.
